Arthritis

There may not be a cure (yet), but there is certainly plenty that can be done to help manage the condition and minimise the symptoms of arthritis.

Along with our tried and tested treatment philosophy, we will spend extra time working with you to help ensure you fully understand the nature of your condition and how to best manage it yourself moving forwards. Our treatment strategy includes:

  • Biomechanical evaluation
  • Advice and education on:
    • Lifestyle
    • Activity
    • Supplementation
    • Condition progression
  • Soft tissue massage to loosen and relax stiff, tight muscles
  • Joint mobilisation to help reduce joint stiffness
  • A tailored exercise plan to strengthen and mobilise the affected areas

We understand that there is a lot of confusion hearsay and misinformation out in the world regarding arthritis. If you would like to speak with one of our specialists to find out what is best for you we would be delighted to help.

Some of the more common forms of arthritis that we have had excellent results treating include:
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Reactive arthritis
  • Juvenile arthritis (children)
A little further information on arthritis (may also be useful for pub quizzes!)

'Arthro' means joint and 'itis' means inflammation (in case you were wondering what the name means).

Arthritis affects around 10 million people in the UK – one in five of the adult population and 12,000 children.

It is not always realised that there are actually over 200 (!) types of arthritis – or musculoskeletal conditions. They are split into three classifications:

  • Inflammatory arthritis – such as rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, gout
  • Non-inflammatory arthritis – such as osteoarthritis, scoliosis, torn ligaments
  • Connective tissue disease – such as lupus, sclerosis, Sjogren's syndrome
